Ser Jacopo Domina 1998 bent shape Shape smoking pipe
This is a brand new, unsmoked, Ser Jacopo pipe of the year for 1998. It comes in a custom storage/display tube of very fine coach leather, a Domina 98 borchure, and a cloth pipe pouch.†
This pipe was produced in a limited edition of 333 pieces, of which this is number 112
The shape is a unique shape with one of the curved air channels that only Ser Jacopo can do. The smooth finished areas on the bottom where the stamping is, and a small band just under the silver, the finish is a very dark ruby color, and the stem has a very large and very strikingly engraged silver band which has two rings at the upper and lower end, a diamond pattern in the center, and the words Domina 98 Ser Jacopo in the center on the bottom side.
This is a medium size and weight pipe, with a distinctive texture and a stunning silver band. It fits very nicely in the hand, and will no doubt be a great smoker should anyone wish to light it up. The packaging, the fact that it is a limited edition caused me to restrain from doing so myself.
Giancarlo Guidi, who founded Ser Jacopo was one of the best pipe makers in the world. His designs are unique, delightful, fascinating, and his pipes smoke brilliantly. Fatta a mano means handmade, and he was a very fine hand-craftsman. When he succumed to cancer in 2012 the pipe world lost one of itís great masters.
The stamping on the stem reads:
SER JACOPO (in script)
